WILLIS WILBURN

Everyday Transcendence

WILLIS
WILBURN

Anything can shine on the stage of Willis Wilburn's canvas, ...

where shadow and light applaud the lonely whimsy of everyday things:  liquor bottles, tubes of paint and paint brushes, divorce papers, dirty dishes, a WD40 can, even power cords powering some appliance just off the canvas.

From rural landscapes, to “very still” lifes, to ethereal portraits, Willis’ style holds space for us to explore his quiet and oftentimes dark spaces and listen for their stories. We find ourselves there, too, resting in solidarity with a single stem of red wine beside a chess game, or standing among cows under moonlight, or feeling the warm, morning sun on breakfast dishes.

His best pieces are his most personal. It’s in these that Willis’s broken strokes and unfinished areas, his luminous messes, his quirky surprises, his radiant portraits of countless inconsequential miracles - all connect us with the intimate holiness of everyday transcendence.

Illuminate your space with Willis Wilburn's creations, where light and shadow take on a personality of their own.
